[Poem] Fire

						  FIRE
In the dingy alleys of a forlorn city
around smoldering embers they sit
Unsure of what tomorrow may bring
yet, brimming with determination and grit
Thoughts serenade to swaying crops
and the aroma of soil wafts across
Eyes brim with tears, perchance
a brute reminder of Yesterday’s loss
Beckons an edge with no return,
To pitfalls, chances, a life of sin
But, refusing to let desires die, they burn
The fire outside and the fire within
