[English Ghazal] As we parted
Your discomfort, I can feel, she said
The wounds would soon heal, she said
Behind this mask, lives a human
You forgot that in your zeal, she said
Now, it’s too late for you to react
Don’t dare to lift this veil, she said
Feed my lavish desires, you have to
Beg, borrow or steal, she said
Probably we both deserve better
Divorce is a fair deal, she said
“Mahfuuz”, you are uncouth to the core
I realize as your layers I peel, she said
The wounds would soon heal, she said
Behind this mask, lives a human
You forgot that in your zeal, she said
Now, it’s too late for you to react
Don’t dare to lift this veil, she said
Feed my lavish desires, you have to
Beg, borrow or steal, she said
Probably we both deserve better
Divorce is a fair deal, she said
“Mahfuuz”, you are uncouth to the core
I realize as your layers I peel, she said
